there is no kurdistan in turkey.sivas is a turkish city.the kangal dogs are not a kurdish breed of dogs.the kurds just want to overcome their inferiority complex against us,turks.turks used to be nomadic people who conquered anatolia from the greek byzantine empire,coming to anatolia with huge numbers of sheep and their asian dogs.
Oh yes, and maybe you dont know that this region was colonised by celts from europe around 300 BC, they probably brought their dogs so maybe not turkish and not kurdish. Ancient Galatia was an area in the highlands of central Anatolia in modern Turkey. Galatia was named for the immigrant Gauls from Thrace (cf. Tylis), who settled here and became its ruling caste in the 3rd century BC, following the Gallic invasion of the Balkans in 279 BC. It has been called the “Gallia” of the East, Roman writers calling its inhabitants “Galli” (“Gauls”).[1]
ronit,i do not know where u r from or whether u r goodwilled to have asked that question about the address of kurdestan but i can help u very well…how ignorant of u to ask this question.i think u r a kurd and i guess u know kurds are mainly shafii of sunni version of islam and they consider dogs to be dirty according to their teaching of the sect they believe in.so,it is highly unlikely that they were the kangal breeders.mind my words…akbash kangal kars and alabai,even the caucasian dogs are mainly brought by the nomadic ancestors of turks who mainly lived on sheep.kangal,akbash alabai are names that have meanings in turkish but not in kurdish or any other language.

I am Italian, I live in Italy and I have 2 kangal dogs, both female – They’re sweet and steady – They listen very much – Good friends – I love all dogs and many breeds, I honestly believe kangal is one of the best dog I encountered – I love Turkey first of all, as I have been working there for many years now and I have met always good people

I live in cambodia and i have 1 red nose pitbull and 1 kangal both female, i was scared at the begining they dont get along since they are both dominant breed but they are now best friend!

It is inaccurate to call this dog a “Turkish breed,” for the following reasons: The nomadic Turkish tribes did not arrive in these areas of Anatolia (modern Turkey) until after the Battle of Manzikert in AD 1072, that is, about 800 years ago. I am Turkish and i Probably know a lot more than any of these things you are talking about kangals and i would like to share it with you all so u dont need to make this politic and try to gain something out of it. Kangals are originally mix breed of Graywolves and sheppard dogs. here in canada we have a lot of native people that they own wolves as pets and after generations kangal took its shape today so thats why kangals are the national dog or animal of turkey as well as graywolves with another saying Bozkurts

Beautiful line in ignorance there. This is a conversation about a breed of dog, and it is over-run with racist bigotry. And before you go mad, telling me I don’t know what I am talking about, I have lived in Istanbul and Turkish and Iraqi Kurdistan.

Again a bit racist, but more just displaying a lack of knowledge about the relationship between Kurdish herders and dogs. Kurds use two main breeds as working companions, Kangal and Hawsher (I may have spelt this incorrectly).
So, how about we talk about dogs? I am writing a story about Kangal and wish to find a truly great breeder of them – does anyone have any idea where Turkey/Kurdistan’s most feted breeder lives? Logically I would presume Sivas, but of course, it could be anywhere.

I have met many peoples from Middle East , really Turks are people that comes from the vicinity of current Mongolia country, they had no culture, history,humanity and morality.
as u can see they are now inhabited in the regions that Mongols were attack.
because of this they should steal culture , history , … from the original citizens like Armenian , Greek and Kurd.
they also theft a country and named it “Turkey” that is originally belongs to Greek, Kurd and Armenian.
they are now in the stage that steal dog breeds recently and it’s very comic !!!!

WOW – I cannot believe that I was seriously trying to do some research on the most beautiful dog I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing – AND having lived in Turkiye for over 10 years and having learnt the language fluently and spent a fair deal of time travelling throughout the vast country – including the more remote eastern anatolian regions – It is saddening to recognize that ignorance and aggression – and such an ugly combination!
